Launch Your Fire Service Career with LCFA’s Resident Firefighter Program

The Laramie County Fire Authority Resident Firefighter Program is designed for young adults who are serious about a career in the fire service. In this fast-paced, immersive program, resident firefighters must live in one of our fire stations for up to two years while gaining hands-on experience working as full members of the crew.

Unlike a traditional internship, this program provides real-world training. LCFA resident firefighters are fully certified, responding to emergencies daily alongside career and volunteer personnel. During the program, residents earn an Associate’s Degree along with certifications including Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazmat Operations, Apparatus Driver-Operator, and EMT-Basic.

Graduates of the program emerge as highly qualified and competitive candidates, prepared for a professional firefighting career anywhere in the country.
